In the Beginning

Pamplemousse, you say? Indeed. It rhymes with Ruse. And its French. Its fun to say. The Roose Likes Pomp-le-moose. Its grapefruit.

My thought process really just stopped there.

When pondering the idea of starting a blog, I questioned the reasoning for doing so. Is it a therapeutic need of mine? Maybe. Is it because I really want people to view what I have to say or think as important? Not really, I'm not sure that I care that much. Is it just another way to procrastinate because I really ought to be cleaning, strategizing my coupon attack of the week, cleaning the nasty dust off of the ceiling fan, chasing my child, or finishing a continuing education course to keep up my professional certifications? Is it another form of self-expression to hide behind instead of bringing up thoughts or important matters in real life conversation? Yes, and perhaps.

I believe a lot of people blog things they'd never discuss in real life conversations. Sometimes its because of the opportunity to write and edit and re-think and re-phrase a whole more easily in a text box than in a conversation with someone. If you're like me, you need to re-think and re-phrase and edit half of what would come out of your mouth at first anyway. Other times its because we're not confident or brave enough to say things we'd like to say in person. I'll raise my hand on that one too.

I'm not really a writer. In fact, I'm mostly a conversator. That's right, I'm using the word conversator, with an -or. Doesn't that sound more dignified than "I like to have conversations?" I like to start and have conversations. I enjoy sharing information, corny moments, laughing, and expressing ideas. And the fact of the matter is, I can type faster than I can write in a journal.

In the end, this will most likely be a compilation of rants and raves about many things motherhood, delicious, humanitarian, literary, humourous, and musical. All sacred. And if any readers should engage in this nonsense that is my inner thought process (see paragraph 1), maybe some thoughts here will spawn good discussion or at least provide a moment of hilarity.

Do you like pamplemousse?
